A Duke For Opal
The Carmichael Saga
Book 2
The #1 Rule among gentlemen: sisters are off-limits...rules however, are meant to be broken.
Lady Opal Carmichael is a wild-spirited hoyden with a love for books, and absolutely zero interest in marrying a duke. Being the daughter of a ruthless duke, she knows firsthand to steer clear of those powerful peers. Opal can, however make an exception for one duke—Lockwood “Locke” Renwick, the Duke of Strathearn. She’s loved him forever. And with his winter, house-party, approaching, she intends to make him fall in love with her.
There’s just one small problem—Locke is England’s wickedest rogue, a consummate bachelor, and also her brother-in-law’s best friend.
Lockwood Renwick, the Duke of Strathearn answers to no man. He lives only for his own pleasures and pursuits. Among Strathearn’s favorite? Spending nights with London’s most skilled, lusty, widows and unhappily married women.
When he agrees to host a house party in honor of his best friend’s, little sister-in-law, it isn’t long before Strathearn finds himself dangerously tempted by the forbidden—an innocent, exquisitely breathtaking, and all grown-up, Lady Opal. As a duke he’s never been denied.
Now, Strathearn finds himself fighting a battle between the gentlemanly code of friendship that marks the young woman off-limits—and his all-powerful desire for Opal.

Strong and Stubborn
Locke has come to the aid of Opal’s family before (most notably in “Diamond in the Rough,” Book 1 of The Carmichael Saga), so the two already know each other... I delighted in watching Locke and Opal interact. Author Christi Caldwell is extremely talented when writing characters with depth and using dialogue and action to move the plot forward. This couple’s witty conversations were so engaging, as was one particular conversation between Opal and her younger brother that had me laughing out loud.
In their own ways, Locke and Opal ensured there was plenty of “noble” in “nobility,” almost to the detriment of their future...the final chapters had me racing through because they were so action-packed and entertaining.

A Love Story that Sizzles & Shines!
I loved this couple & the author had me hooked on the first page. The author presents another emotionally packed romance with strong characters and a perfectly paced plot that kept me riveted from start to finish...
Locke soon finds himself dangerously tempted by the all-grown-up Lady Opal. Their chemistry sizzles from the moment they meet, and their banter is delightfully engaging...
The author writes with such vivid emotion that every feeling, love, hate, passion, happiness, comes alive on the page. Her ability to connect readers with her characters and their story is exceptional. Through eloquent prose and heartfelt moments, she crafts a story filled with sizzling scenes and palpable tension. Their "meet cute" in the garden was simply adorable! A fantastic, passionate, and captivating book that will leave readers yearning for more.
